People want a gaming machine. the 360 is the best gaming machine. Its the most friendly to programmers which benefits consumers with better games. Their online serive is better, and their control pad and game lineup and catalogue is more extensive.
If M$ had truly back it and included it in their premium SKU's for movie viewing only, then i'm sure HD-DVD would have won.
As it is, Blu-Ray is REALISTICALLY our ONLY hope for OWNING HD content. I won't buy a Flopstation, but I brought a Samsung Blu-Ray player and copies of BATMAN BEGINS/BLADE RUNNER/DARK CITY last year.
I'm vey happy with the picture and sound, although the slow loading times and incompatibility really grate...

Before M$ came along, i was considering giving up on gaming.
Now, i play more than ever on my 360 and Xbox 1 before that.
M$ has the hardcore. Always have, since the XBox 1. Nintendo have the thick casuals, and sony have the chavs and sheep.

We,(XBOX 360/PS3)the hardcore are more than HAPPY with our conventional pads! We don't want change, we want refinement. We want graphics, increased AI, and all the other next gen good stuff that comes with powerful hardware. We're looking forward, not back like Ninty. Leave us alone!

Its getting really stupid to keep having these games bashed out EVERY GOD DAMNED YEAR! Give it a rest. Develop some new IP's. INNOVATE!
Why don't M$ just allow some third party manufacturer to make one on the cheap like the article says?
And rush a PS4 to market. They just arn't making any progress. What little they make, Xbox beats. And Sony continue to lose money on every console sold. The debt continues to pile up for sony...
Dark days are ahead for sony i fear. How much more money can they afford to lose? I bet their shareholders are worried... I would be.
I bet they'll leave this generation with a debt of 4-5 Billion when alls said and done...
